Profile bio

About Jonathan Hatlee

I started my career in customer service and sales with my sights set on management roles. For many years I worked in a service or sales role in some capacity in many industries, from hotels to banks. I eventually found my way into management in banking, but discovered I had other aspirations.I eventually started my own business that did well for a short time, and although its life was short, it did move me into the eCommerce and inventory space. I worked for a tiny eCommerce start-up as an Operations Director after my business had failed. It was here where I learned the ins and outs of running an inventory-based eCommerce business. I wore many hats in this role, but ultimately had the goal of scaling the company from a small office to a large warehouse. I succeeded in scaling this company after just a couple of years through some niche marketing and self-learning on warehouse management. However, this would not have been possible without a special piece of software called LOCATE Inventory. This software became the spine of the company's technology ecosystem. I loved the software so much, that I wanted to work for LOCATE Inventory, who hired me without hesitation when I inquired about a job.For roughly two years, I worked as an implementation specialist for LOCATE Inventory, helping eCommerce businesses scale their company by adopting LOCATE like I did years ago. I eventually was obligated to move into a support role at LOCATE after the company changed their on-boarding model. I again found myself in a customer service role. I enjoyed the LOCATE customer service role because I loved the company and what we did for businesses. But I wanted something else. The CEO of LOCATE encouraged me to begin learning software development in JavaScript after I'd expressed interest in coding. I quickly found immense passion and drive hiding in the code editor. I self-studied front-end software development with the guidance of my mentor at LOCATE for about 6 months until LOCATE was acquired by Xero.I worked in a service role for Xero for two years to help sunset the legacy LOCATE Inventory software and write support and education content for the new eCommerce inventory product our acquired team was building. In these two years I continued to learn software development while pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering. My hard work paid off and I moved into a software engineering role as a full stack developer in Javascript and PHP at Xero, working on eCommerce inventory software. The best is yet to come.

Branch Manager

The Branch Manager role at Bank of the West was divided into two areas of responsibility that I had to master. Bank Security and Staff Management, followed by Business Acquisition. I was required to oversee all branch operations and successfully mitigate any risk the bank might take on. This included cash audits, security and access control by team members, as well as assessing deposit and loan risk. It was my duty to consistently coach and lead the branch team towards success. This was accomplished through creating a positive work environment that rewarded success. Working closely with the service manager stationed at my branch to keep cash operations sound, as well as keep front line sales performance to meet metrics. It was my goal to create a culture within my branch that made the bank a great place to be whether you were a team member or a customer. Customer experience and loyalty is driven through culture, and I had created one that catered to the goal of increasing both. The other area of responsibility was business acquisition. I was responsible for driving business revenue into the branch and for the company. This was accomplished through using strong interpersonal skills to forge relationships with CEO's and local business owners in my area. I was held to different sales goals that drove revenue and loyalty to Bank of the West which included, deposit volume, business household acquisition, loan volume, customer experience surveys, partner referral volume, and calculated profit metrics. This position required every ounce of my developed sales and relationship building skill. In order to be successful in this area, I needed to place myself as something more than a Branch Manager. I needed to be a reliable trustworthy partner that worked side by side with CEO's and business owners to keep their business loan needs and cash operations running smoothly.

Service Manager

My first main priority is to consistently improve the service and sales performance of bank tellers This includes utilizing feedback and guidance forms that lay out sales and service standards for tellers. I'm always monitoring their interactions with customers, and having one on one talks bi hourly about their performance that day. Conduct sales meetings to get the team motivated for the day. Work with upper management to communicate new activities that we plan to use to use in order to overcome slipping sales or service numbers. Execute new practices by conducting skills practice trainings, and role playing in order to help tellers adjust their interactions to succeed. My second main priority is managing internal security and cash controls Track the amount of cash being withdrawn from our branch too keep inventory up Monthly audits of many areas of the bank that include customer information protection, as well as team member safety Control scheduling of entire teller team balancing paid time off requests with business needs Keep team members up to date on controls that are in place due to federal regulations for safety, ADA compliance, and information accuracy. Provide disciplinary action if necessary to correct behavior that affects team member performance, such as punctuality, service and sales performance, and dress code. This position requires an extreme ability to multitask and communicate effectively with others. Continually I am balancing daily duties, with team member and customer requests that have to be fulfilled immediately. I am always fulfilling multiple roles depending on the needs of the business.
