Developed and advocated for policies, programs, and legislation that protect the West’s lands and rivers. My work sought to permanently protect and connect our landscapes so that they support thriving wildlife populations, robust local outdoor economies, and unparalleled opportunities to enjoy the West’s natural beauty.

Oversaw all facets of the Forest’s Special Uses program, resolved realty/property rights issues, and developed land acquisition proposals. Led the environmental review and permitting for a diverse spectrum of land uses, from complex infrastructure projects (transmission lines, solar arrays, communication towers, etc.) to commercial filming and whitewater rafting guides, among others. Spearheaded efforts to acquire land for incorporation into the National Forest system and resolve thorny access issues. Led the development of land and resource management plan components for socioeconomic resources like recreation, traditional communities, special uses, realty, and energy, pursuant to the Santa Fe National Forest’s Plan Revision process.

Served in a temporary assignment with CWSF, which acts as a liaison between State Foresters and the US Forest Service. Focused on policy analysis and communication, including legislative tracking, wildfire updates, and development of a guide to the US Forest Service’s Hazardous Fuels Reduction program for Western State Foresters.

Advised City attorneys, volunteer boards, and City Council on issues including open space land use authority, governmental immunity and liability, nonprofit incorporation, First Amendment protections, and cannabis regulations, among others.

Reviewed documents used in the BLM’s National Greater Sage-Grouse Planning Strategy and recommended relevant resources for incorporation into administrative record.

Researched and drafted local government land use codes, incorporating best practices in fields of sustainability, alternative energy, urban agriculture, design standards, and historic preservation.
