About Jonathan Hearn

I'm a Legal Director in the Employment team of DLA Piper. I'm based in London, and I advise and train employers and senior employees on all aspects of UK employment law, particularly business transfers. I give commercial, practical advice, and I've done so since I trained and qualified with this firm in the 1990s. I work a lot on business transfers, acting for service providers and customers in outsourcings, and on UK and international M&A projects. I also advise a range of UK employers on all day-to-day employment law issues. I have a strong practice of UK and international clients whom I support, as well as advising across the range of DLA Piper's clients in the UK and globally.

    I work a lot on business transfers. I act for service providers and customers in outsourcings, and on UK and international M&A projects. I negotiate deals, and I advise on strategies to implement transfers of employees under the UK's TUPE rules, and similar laws in other jurisdictions globally. Plus advice on post-acquisition integration and restructuring. I advise on all the most challenging areas of UK labour law: disability, and the other aspects of discrimination law, whistleblowing, restructuring & redundancy, misconduct, capability, grievances, managing absence, boardroom disputes, restrictive covenants and injunctions, other employment contract issues, data protection, collective consultation, international labour standards, global executive mobility, trade union issues and strikes. I advise a range of UK employers on day-to-day employment law compliance, employment tribunal defence, family friendly rights and negotiated exits. I've acted on numerous cross-border HR projects - and I was invited to devise and present a module of the Ashridge MBA course.
