Planned and executed the first ever CVN Planned Incremental Availability (PIA) a $128M, 328K man days, up to 850 men/day availability, making it the benchmark for all Naval Shipyards to follow. Developed and integrated digital map for each CVN ship. It had as-built specifications and any waivers or deviations that were associated with the ships construction. We also track specific system component repairs and developed “ready spares” which were long repair items that we had repaired in advance and standing by for the repair availability to speed up the repair cycle on any availability. It also provided additional fill work for the Depot when the workload dropped. This helped us maintain configuration control of each ship in the class.
Assist Program Manager
Responsible for all submarine availabilities and nuclear ship inactivations. Managed 68 submarine availabilities in both the private and public shipyards. As a Program Manager with the Fast Attack submarine group in NAVSEA, I facilitated the maintenance plan for the 688 class submarines. The philosophy for the maintenance is very similar to the HVM process that was conducted on the C-130 aircraft at Warner Robins ALC. There are a series of small availabilities that conduct pre-availability testing to determine the requirement maintenance at the next PDM. In the submarine case we broke the PDM into 4 smaller availabilities to provide the maximum op-tempo for the ships.
