My practice focuses on blurring the boundaries of art and science to render the unseen and challenge notions of landscape. In the last three years I have developed my research area to encompass a methodology of photographic interventions within the landscape that are site specific and responsive. This has evolved from engaging with a framework of scientific ‘fieldwork’, where observation and data collection can provide insights into specific environments. This ‘fieldwork’ is centred around the unique possibilities of the photographic medium and goes beyond the privileged landscape image. Complementing this mode of enquiry is my ongoing active engagement with climate change concerns and how photography can be used strategically to synthesise information into visualisations that facilitate an emotional response. I am interested in how a collaboration between art and science might facilitate an intimate connection that is based on both factual and poetic modes of communicating. Through doing so I am interested in how this could achieve a contemplative and lasting effect, and how this could be a way of shifting behaviour and inciting change.
