Atlanta-based musician Jonathan Kochik is currently pursuing the master of music in wind bandconducting degree and music teacher certification at Georgia State University. Jonathan enjoysimmersing himself in the many facets of the arts. At Georgia State his duties include coachingvarious large & small ensembles and assisting in all areas of the band program.Mr. Kochik is an active composer and arranger. His arrangements include a wide varietyof styles composed for ensembles of all instrumentations. He has received commissions fromTara Winds community ensemble and Milton High School. In addition, he has collaborated withDr. Robert J. Ambrose on creating the first critical edition of the landmark wind band workArctic Dreams by Pulitzer Prize winning composer Michael Colgrass.In addition to arranging, Mr. Kochik is an avid teacher in the marching arts. Joining thestaff of the Milton High School marching band in 2012, he leads drum major clinics annuallyand teaches the drum majors each season. He has also held and lead drum major and leadershipclinics at Mill Creek High School (2017), Wheeler High School (2016), and Woodland HighSchool (2016).Mr. Kochik received the bachelor of music degree in performance from Georgia StateUniversity in 2016 and continues to teach and compose throughout Atlanta. Upon graduation, heplans to be a high school band director with goals to later pursue his doctorate of music andtransition to a collegiate level program.
