Jonathan began working as an Engineer at Thornton Tomasetti in August of 2018. He is a member of the Structural Engineering and Weidlinger Protective Design practices and works on projects involving blast-proof window & façade design, anti-ram construction, and the response of structures experiencing reflective and incident blast pressures and impulses.Jonathan completed his Master of Engineering program in May of 2018 at Cornell University where he pursued a degree in Structural Mechanics & Materials. He completed his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering also from the Cornell University College of Engineering, obtaining a minor in music as well.In the summers of 2016 and 2017, he worked at Zieman Engineering, LLC as a structural engineering intern. He designed highway bridge erection plans, performed structural moment analysis and design on skyscraper anchor rods, and collaborated on the design of temporary work platforms for suspension bridge cable replacement in his second summer there. He drafted elevations and plans for the demolition of steel bridge towers, performed center of gravity erection calculations on asymmetrical and curved members, and modeled torsional deformations of differential jacking of steel trusses in his first summer.Jonathan took on grader roles as a graduate student. As an undergraduate, Jonathan sought leadership on campus in two of the ensembles he was a part of, rising to Director of The Hangovers, an entirely student-run and managed a cappella group that puts on several concerts and performances each semester, and section leader of the Cornell Glee Club.His academic interests lie in the design and construction of bridges and skyscrapers, transportation infrastructure, protective design, anti-ramming construction, sustainability, and urban design.
