• Conduct design concept generation, feasibility studies and develop high-level mechanical designs for electrical machines & inverters in collaboration with other engineering functions and participate in design reviews.• Create detailed mechanical design of electrical machines & inverters, including rotors, stators, casings, shafts, bus bar assemblies, sealing systems, cooling systems, bearing arrangements etc. • Create detailed mechanical designs for low volume (e.g. motorsport) and high volume (e.g. automotive) production.• Design components to suit the following processes: casting, stamping, injection molding, sintering, machining, turning etc. • Specify and integrate third-party mechanical components (bearings, fasteners, seals etc.), collaborating with other engineering functions to develop optimized electric drive systems. • Build & test prototype mechanical hardware/systems as for client/internal projects.• Demonstrate that designs are robust, cost effective and fit for purpose, defining appropriate manufacturing routes where required. • Capture and interpret requirements, generating clear specifications, proposals and project plans.-
