For 5 years, Towergate was using a mix of RPA and CTC for their automation function. In 2022, this was moved onto the Autorek system. This process involves uploading statements received from insurers into the Autorek system, and matching the policies against the Towergate system data, and ultimately paying insurers.My role has largely remained the same, where I oversee that the automation is running successfully and coming up with ways to improve the process. However, I am now also implementing the changes myself, by adding adding rules to the system to improve match rates, whether that’s general match rules or specific insurer rules, such as policy number regexs. I have been responsible for winding down the old process, ensuring there was a seamless transition with both the system itself and the offshore team, that we no longer were working with. I have been instrumental in ensuring that each element of the process has been successfully transferred to the new process, and have led process guide being written and change audits being carried out. I am regularly asked for help by the query team for both process information and technical system knowledge, as this is the first time they have been working on an automation system, previously they would work from excel outputs.

I oversee an automated process, where RPA picks up statements received from numerous insurers, matches the data against Towergate’s system data (using CTC) and then settles transactions to pay to the insurer.The main function of my role is to improve the processes to ensure that it is running as efficiently as possible. This includes introducing new insurers to the process, reviewing how data is matched (such as introducing regular expressions on policy numbers, client names etc), changing schedules and mapping files, and brand new processes. I design and test these changes, whilst they are implemented by an outsourced company. I also lead a team based in India, who review the outputs from the automation, work any exceptions it produces, provide MI to the rest of the business and liaise with insurers. I have been out to India to train these processes out to the team when it was initially sent offshore.This also includes auditing the teams work on a monthly basis, and providing insight on how they can improve.Please note, currently the teams and work I oversee is outsourced, therefore I am not in a position for hiring staff.

Maintaining the collateral management process, agreeing margin calls with a variety of counterparties on a daily or weekly basis, booming these moves so payments can be made in a timely manner, then calculating, agreeing and booking monthly interest amounts with these insurers.Checking that payments are made and received on time, chasing up any missing transactions and ensuring that the accounts balance so there are sufficient funds to meet obligations.Completing the Derivatives process, ensuring swaps are agreed with counterparties, using interpolation calculations to investigate any differences.Carrying out the Capital Markets process, logging interest and redemption amounts for scheduled securities, booking in transactions and investigating any discrepancies.
