My name is Jonathan Mercado and I am a senior undergraduate mechanical engineering student at Northern Illinois University (NIU). I’ve had the opportunity to work in the HVAC and agro-manufacturing industries. While having learned so much in both fields through tremendous engineers and leaders, I am still eager to grow and learn even more. Passionate about making an impact, I’ve diligently maintained a high academic standard. I believe classroom material alone can make a meaningful impact. But when applied in creative ways to problem solve, and mixed in with collaborative efforts, profound results can be assured. With this philosophy in mind, I’ve had the chance to work on numerous complex projects at NIU, and I’ve also had the chance to work on various intricate projects at Sherman Mechanical and AGI. And through working as an accountable team-player and intentional contributor, I’ve seen great success in the classroom setting, and real-life application and business world. Throughout my studies at NIU, and my experience at Sherman Mechanical and AGI, I’ve learned to truly value the impact of engineering in real-life settings and lives. And with a hunger to learn more, I am eager and excited to contribute towards making a positive change!
