Douglas MacArthur once said, a person “…does not set out to be a leader but becomes one by the equality of his actions and the integrity of his intent. It is one of my all time favourite quotes and epitomises the values I live by today.I never saw myself as a leader but my passion for helping others, my compassion and kindness, and my ability to connect with people led me to taking on multiple leadership roles throughout my young journey. Whether it was being School Captain in primary school, to Prefect in high school and President of QUT Business Analysis and Data Science Club (QUT BANDS), I have thoroughly enjoyed leading and working alongside amazing people to not only achieve our goals but to also set the club or organisation up for long term success. However, it was a subject change in high school, that truly kickstarted my path into the business world.Midway through Year 10, I left Japanese as I wasn’t enjoying it as much as I once did and so I wanted to take on a new challenge, I switched to accounting. I worked hard to catch up to the rest of the class, and through that I quickly began to develop a passion for working with financial data, analysing patterns, and creating solutions to problems faced by businesses. I ended up toping the cohort for accounting that year and since then I have not looked back. Now I’m studying a Bachelor of Business – International at QUT as it was the only degree in Brisbane that combined my love for travel and my passion for accountancy and finance into one degree. As part of that degree, I get to go overseas and study abroad for a whole year! I’ve chosen Norway as my international destination as it is something completely different and out of my comfort zone, but I love taking on a new challenge. Having worked in one of Australia’s largest retailers, I have learnt many skills that I continue to use in my university and leadership career. These include:• Problem Solving, • Being Adaptable and a Fast Learner, • Customer Service, • Good Time Management• Good Work EthicAway from work and uni., I love to volunteer, go to new places, catch up with friends and family, watch movies, catch up on world news and politics, and play and watch sport. In particular, I love playing, coaching and refereeing volleyball, cricket and supporting my favourite teams including, Arsenal, South Sydney Rabbitohs, the Brisbane Heat and the Brisbane Lions.
