Plan meetings and special events, including maintaining RSVP lists, credentialing visiting admirals, project sponsors, military students, the United States House of Representatives Majority Leader and other high level military, political and civilian personnel. Develop promotional material for visitors. Keep community groups, scientists and engineers up-to-date on division activities and programs. Write and edit newsletter, and serve as backup layout designer. Develop and cultivate professional relationships with local and national media and local and national legislators. Provide media escorts. Respond verbally and in wring to media inquiries. Initiate communication between department heads, command and the Public Affairs Office. Lead facility tours for new employees and dignitaries. Provide photographic support for tours, events and programs. Supply photographs for use on the Navy’s website. Assist scientists and engineers submitting Public Release requests by tracking submissions and maintaining a data base of submissions. Implement communications plans and track division media action and report to supervisor. Serve on the Occupational Safety and Health Committee and perform safety inspections for five work areas.Accomplishments: -Develop and implement metrics to track and quantify public affairs productivity and accomplishments.-Increase media coverage of the division by 200%. -Planning for special events including ribbon-cutting ceremony, three groundbreaking ceremonies, and other occasions of distinction.-Coordinating with Defense Information School (DINFOS) to support training for military public affairs specialists.-Prepare command for interviews Show less
