As an environmental specialist intern for the New Jersey Army National Guard, I assisted the National Guard's Environmental Management Bureau in completing regulatory compliance tasks and projects for over 40 armories across the state. Projects I successfully completed include: updating the air emissions inventory, updating the ozone depleting and global warming potential substance inventory, updating the storage tanks inventory and surveying Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB) containing fluorescent light ballasts. In addition, I was involved in completing impact analyses for all New Jersey Army National Guard armories using Information for Planning and Consultation (IPaC) from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. Finally, I assisted in managing threatened, endangered, and invasive species on protected areas at armory locations. Throughout the project, I conducted field surveys and inspections, collected and compiled data, calculated air emissions, developed GIS maps, and concluded all data and findings in a professional report format.-Contacting Armorers to schedule visits-Traveled to Armory Locations for Routine Site Assessments & Compliance Inspections -Phase I Environmental Site Assessment -Conducted Air Emissions Inventory: ODC, GWP, and PCB survey at Armory Locations-Calculated air emissions at individual point source and site wide level-Operated Trimble GPS Equipment-Located, inspected, & Recorded GPS Coordinates of ASTs/USTs-Data compilation and manipulation using Microsoft Excel-GIS map data development and Georeferencing Armories and associated building structures (using ArcMap)-Invasive species removal-Conducted Protected and Endangered Species Studies -Detailed report writing-Organized the Environmental Management Bureau’s documents such as permits, contracts, master plans, abatement projects, etc.
