At Phillips Tank & Structure (PTS) I wear many hats. I am a Structural Engineer, Welding Engineer, and Designer. As a Structural Engineer & Designer, I have worked on and gained extensive knowledge on the following subjects:• Aboveground storage tank repair design per API 653• New aboveground storage tank design per API 650• Pressure vessel design (new and repair) per ASME Section VIII Div.1 & Div. 2 & National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors.• Various efforts to support our Construction Group including developing Standard Construction Procedures, custom construction tooling & equipment, and planning tools.• Design & engineer custom permanent industrial structures (e.g., platforms, stairs, catwalks, etc.), per AISC 360.• Engineering site visits as required.As the Weld Engineer at PTS, my knowledge comes from an in-depth understanding of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessels Code (BPVC) Section IX and AWS D1.1 structural welding code. My responsibilities are as follows:• Manage the welding program and field day-to-day questions from PTS team and customers.• Develop weld procedure specification (WPS) with procedure qualification records (PQR).• Oversee the qualifications of PTS welders and produce welder qualifications (WPQ).• Research new welding technologies and implement them in the field.I am a US Army Reserve retired combat bridge erection expert. The US Army sent me to Iraq and Afghanistan. While deployed to Iraq, my unit (459th Engineer Company) built a bridge across the Diyala River on April 7, 2003. We assisted the advancement of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force. The bridge that we built was the first to be built under direct fire since World War II. My time in Afghanistan was with the 980th Engineer Battalion Forward Support Company (FSC). I supported FSC by managing a motor pool. The experience and skills I learned from my time serving our country shaped my life by understand what I want from my life and organizing these wants to accomplish my goals. I have taken these principles into my everyday life to do the same for Phillips Tank and Structure.
