Highlights include: automating a VM provisioning process in 9 weeks to allow engineering to spin up complex pre-configured machines on demand; pivoted to being a developer on a small team tasked with adding a new provider to a broker management system that wasn’t designed to be multi-tenant; developed an automated test framework based on Jasmine and Calabash, which was run against both simulated and live devices simultaneously; key contributor in adding a DB snapshot / restore system to CI that greatly reduced build times; on average, creating a clean database for a given test run went from 15 minutes down to less than a minute; built both the framework and a series of support libraries to promote test development. The first automated test was up and running three days into the engagement.

At Yesmail, I took point for automation of the next generation Enterprise 7 platform front end, a client/server application for multi-channel marketing campaign management including analytics and reporting. The effort included porting the existing suite, technology upgrades (including JUnit 3.8 to JUnit 4.7, Selenium V1 to Selenium V2/Webdriver) and a complete rewrite of the framework to be event driven versus timed waits (a measurable performance improvement). I also developed a full Java utility library to aid others in their test development efforts, as well as close to doubling the size of the suite. The framework itself was run via a Gant script on the Bamboo CI platform.

At Kronos, Inc. I held the roles of scrummaster, team architect and individual contributor on a 5 person Build/Test team. This team was responsible for the design, development and ongoing enhancement of a distributed test network using Selenium, Selenium Grid, Ant, and Bamboo. We developed and maintained a Java utility library of ~175 methods that was used across the division (8 teams) to ensure both consistency and robustness across the functional (~600 cases) and performance (~200 cases) suites. I developed a custom Ant task for running JUnit tests (~1100 cases) in parallel with the Selenium-based functional suite. Javadoc was used for both library and suite documentation. The software under test was an enterprise grade online job application processing system with client payroll closed loop analytics.
