As a former Premier League referee and manager, I have over 15 years of experience in the sports industry, with a focus on developing and managing professional referees in England. My passion is to ensure the highest standards of officiating, integrity, and performance in the top tiers of English football, working for PGMOL, an organisation that shares my values of excellence, respect, and innovation.In my most recent role as the Select Group Director at PGMOL, I was responsible for the training and development of the elite referees in the country, overseeing the delivery of coaching, mentoring, and feedback programs, as well as the coordination of fitness, medical, and psychological support. I also worked closely with various stakeholders to implement and monitor the policies, procedures, and standards for referee appointments, assessments, and promotions. Additionally, I contributed to the introduction and improvement of technology and innovation in refereeing, such as VAR, goal-line technology, and communication systems. Some of my achievements include leading the successful transition of 12 referees from the Championship to the Premier League, facilitating multiple workshops and seminars on refereeing best practices, and increasing the diversity and inclusion of the referee workforce. My skills in problem solving, communication, and presentation enabled me to excel in this role and to foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and excellence among the referees and the staff.
