Incident and Problem Management for NYK. NYK is the tenth largest container transportation and shipping company in the world operating about 776 major ocean vessels, as well as fleets of planes, trains, and trucks. NYK's revenue is about $26 billion, and as a group NYK employs about 55,000 people worldwide.Accomplishments:Through implementation of incident and problem management, system efficiencies and infrastructure automation we were able to reduce incident count from 30,000 to 1,200 a month and save NYK $20,000,000 a year. Automation reduced system and application downtime and placed the majority of incident resolution into the hands of tier 1. This reduced overtime cost, customs holds, missed shipments due to improper paperwork and quicker customer response.
