I am currently employed as the Head of Child Protection and report to the Detective Superintendent, managing a team of 45 direct reports and 140 indirect reports across the central west safeguarding unit, delivering convictions, safeguarding interventions, quality of investigation and quantity of reports for serious child abuse and sexual offence's.• Creating, developing and maintaining safeguarding, hate crime and talent management policies / procedures / guidelines / processes for police officers to use, adapt and apply in their day-to-day work.• Chairing daily meetings / conferences with 7 safeguarding departments to analyse risk, resources and workloads.• Attending head of department meeting with senior Metropolitan Police managers to brief leadership team on current situations, threats and opportunities throughout the tri-borough basic command unit.• Reviewing ongoing serious crime investigations such as child sexual abuse, serious sexual offences and serious violence to assure quality of enquiries and direct investigation strategy.• Working in conjunction with safeguarding and health experts at external charities and agencies, including Social Services, NHS, Tell Mama and Faith Matters to share best practice and ensure alignment and consistency.Key Achievements:• Set up predatory offenders and online child sexual abuse & exploitation units (OCSAE) leading to the arrest of 12 suspected paedophiles in 12 months and 28 predatory (high risk) offenders in first 3 months. • Introduced a safeguarding strategy for all operations, both pre planned and spontaneous. This has embedded the culture that Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility across all Policing activity and has been adopted Met wide.
