Drive systems engineering for multiple drive unit programs, on the cooling and lubrication subteam.- Owned mechanical design of components and subassemblies. Designed parts which distributed drive unit fluid to the motor and gearbox. Responsible for coming up with creative solutions which take into account system efficiency, integration with other subsystems (motor, geartrain, and structures/housings), finding optimal design compromises between groups, and pushing down cost for mass production.- Lead design engineer for the cooling and lubrication system of a new drive unit. Worked with adjacent teams to design fluid system layout and integration into gearcases. Responsible for a new oil distribution strategy which increases control of fluid flow to components.- Created new component level test methods for benchtop studies which allowed rapid iterations on designs, as well as data collection to validate hydraulic models.- Worked directly with many different production suppliers to industrialize parts for mass production. Revised DFM and supplier line processes. Created part and assembly drawings for production.

Advanced manufacturing process research and development for hardware components.- Designed tooling to test experimental shearing and stamping processes for several material types.- Established a sensor setup and data collection method to characterize machine performance.- Investigated root causes of injection molded part defects, trialed solutions with in-house molding machines.

Product development for the delivery system of a next-generation transcatheter structural heart implant.- Designed a multi-handle delivery system stabilizer which greatly enhanced operator control. Created initial concepts and took project from initial mechanical system design to rapid prototyping and design iterations, then all the way to first assemblies with injection molded parts used in clinical studies by surgeons. Accomplished this within 5 months of project onboarding while working on other projects in parallel.- Designed fixtures for spec-setting and design verification testing of the delivery system.- Investigated critical system failures of a load-bearing component within a catheter deflection mechanism through tensile testing, identified root cause and redesigned existing components to resolve the issue.

Led design, manufacturing, and testing of the suspension subsystem.

- Designed a new billet aluminum rack and pinion housing to reduce part count, total machining time and system weight. Worked closely with team CNC machinists to design for manufacturability considering in-house machining capabilities.- Performed structural analysis of components to withstand expected loading conditions.- Led a small team to manufacture the components of the steering subsystem. Taught new team members manual machining, including lathe, mill, and other shop tools.

Test design and development for a novel heart valve repair implant and delivery system.- Designed a benchtop system for pulsatile hydrodynamic testing of prototype heart valve implants.- Designed fixture and methods to perform stiffness testing of nitinol components.- Redesigned fatigue test fixtures to increase machine cycle capacity and improve in-vivo resemblance.- Manufactured all test fixtures in-house with CNC mill, lathe, laser cutting, laser welding, 3D printing, etc.
