I have enjoyed a 30+ year experience as a general insurance actuary in the London and personal lines markets. Through my current role as Group Chief Actuary at Chaucer I have created a respected, market leading Actuarial Function, one that is deeply integrated into the business and set up to make a significant contribution to optimising return vs risk, leading to top quartile performance in its market. I have dealt with numerous complex regulatory changes and requirements across the actuarial, capital modelling / risk areas including exec led on Chaucer’s £15m IFRS17 project. Also I have led and participated in numerous enterprise projects such as emerging markets underwriting strategy, enterprise wide data strategy and reinsurance program optimisation. Through my exec career I have developed enterprise-wide management skills through membership of the Chaucer senior exec management team, internal and external Boards and Committees and participation in cross department collaborative projects. I have also developed strong relationship, stakeholder management, coaching and mentoring skills. I have had executive Board experience through membership of the Chaucer Syndicates Board (2006-2012) and through membership of the Chaucer Defined Benefit Pension Trustee Board, where I have been a Director of since 2016. At the end of 2024 I will be retiring from my full time Group Chief Actuary role at Chaucer with the intention of leveraging my exec knowledge and experience in non exec roles.
