1. Responsible for maintaining and adding new modules to Java web application. Responsible for writing code in all layers of the software. This involved writing the front end views and controls (using Google Web Toolkit), developing Presenters for the front end (using MVP pattern), developing services, and integrating services with Spring. Developed views using GWT’s UiBinder mechanism and used CSS for styling. Used GWT-RPC for interaction between client and server. Developed unit tests using JUnit, Mockito, and HyperSQL. Responsible for checking code into source control (ie, Subversion). Also responsible for maintaining legacy software written in C#, ASP.NET, and ASP. 2. Designed and developed a search screen which used dynamic search criteria. In addition, developed the search algorithm, which used a phoneme algorithm for full name text searching.3. Developed a key architecture component which converted a Query object into SQL. The parser I created did two key things: 1) Created SQL based on an input Query object and 2) Created a MyBatis mapped statement based on the SQL. Additionally, generated a dynamic map which defined the return type of the MyBatis mapped statement; this map defined the relationship between the POJO property and the database column. During the development of this module, I created unit tests for varying scenarios; I also used HyperSQL to set up an in-memory database for tests (effectively mocking out the database).4. Wrote stored procedures and triggers using Transact-SQL. Also, debugged various performance issues using explain plans; the solution involved either adding indexes or using table hints.

Using Visual Studio 2008 and C#, developed module for parsing and translating Oracle SELECT SQL statements that were used for business rules; these SQL statements were transformed into a format that can be run in memory against business objects. Developed module for reading Excel files and converting into known business objects; this module checked the Excel columns for recognized formats. Developed an infrastructure for allowing the customer to turn business rules on or off and specifying additional conditions. Lead numerous requirement discussions with the customer; in addition, resolved a major impasse between two different customer groups by coming up with a solution to meet the needs of all. Wrote unit tests (in nUnit) during all phases of software development. Used mock objects to help aid the unit testing process.

1. Led the development team through a major release of the software. This involved coordinating with business analysts, testers, and developers. Participated in many peer reviews and inspected code for code quality and refactoring opportunities. 2. Maintained the Continuous Integration environment, which uses Gradle and Jenkins. Set up the continuous integration pipeline to compile code, run unit tests, set up the databases, and run integration tests. Set up SonarQube to capture software metrics.3. Architected an integration test infrastructure using dbUnit, which uses XML files to set up the starting state of each test. All of the tests relied on Spring Transaction management to rollback after running each test. 4. Architected Selenium Web Driver test infrastructure using the Page Object pattern. Created reusable web elements to wait for changes in the DOM.5. Architected a dynamic rules solution using Drools Rule Engine. The rules are stored in the database and dynamically loaded at runtime. 6. Analyzed database objects (stored procedures, queries, triggers) for performance optimizations. This involved running a SQL Profiler to capture metrics on performance to determine bottlenecks. In addition, used explain plans to determine the problems with long running queries.7. Responsible for peer reviewing code (using Crucible). Look for best ways to refactor code for easier maintainability; for example, I often recommend splitting up classes that have too much responsibility and recommend Builder pattern for classes with too many constructors. Also recommend design patterns (such as Dependency Injection) to help testability of code.
