I’ve always liked tinkering and solving puzzles. I learned how differentials work while playing with Legos and just exploring. I stumbled into making one and it felt really cool. It wasn’t a new idea, but it was new to me. Little experiences like that have made me love to discover. In my limited experience, I’ve seen there are challenging and interesting things in almost any line of work. Still, in pursuing a mechanical engineering degree, I feel I’m gaining the tools needed to explore a little further than I otherwise might. I hope that my future career will provide the opportunity to do something new, or new to me at least. There’s plenty that interests me: nuclear power, compliant mechanisms, additive manufacturing, composites, textiles, etc. So far, I’ve mostly played with 3d printing but hope to build my own CNC sewing machine in the future. I’m motivated, and I’m pretty good with Solidworks. I also know how to weld and I’m no stranger to your basic power tools. I’m not too bad of a programmer either, so given my optimistic and inquisitive nature, I see it as a pretty achievable project that I’ll have fun with.
