If any member of my team is not present I am expected to step up and cover his job until a suitable replacement can be found, this requires me to have a working familiarity with every job assignment and work station in my teams area. I am actively involved in problem solving for both throughput and quality issues in my primary area of responsibility using such tools as Pareto analysis, Ishikawa diagrams, root cause analysis etc. I was involved in a six sigma project to help eliminate a quality issue in another department related to truck tailgates. I led a mixed group of tradesmen, (die makers, die device, electrician, machine repair, and die set team w/ crane operator) in transitioning 5 to 7 conventional hydraulic press lines over from one part to another. This involved communication and coordination with other departments to stage tooling and personnel at appropriate times in such a fashion as to support production and maintain schedule.

This was another of my entrepreneurial endeavors. I put my scuba diving certification to work and started salvaging golf balls out of water traps on golf courses across Indiana and Ohio. We were processing about 60 to 75 thousand balls a year. Most were sold wholesale back to the courses with stripes for the driving ranges or for them to retail out of the pro shop.
