Created 10 culturally and linguistically appropriate health communication brochures for refugees on various health topics. Managed 3 part-time staff members and an annual program budget of 190,000 dollars. Organized, marketed, and facilitated 8 training of trainers on in health promotion for 194 participants over the last year. Coordinated and facilitated 2 roundtable workgroups on improving health access among stakeholders in the refugee community and health providers. Ensured program objectives and contractual obligations were met though program’s monitoring and evaluation framework. Designed surveys to evaluate program trainings and to assess needs of the refugee populations living in the United States. Authored and submitted semi-annual reports on program accomplishments to the Office of Refugee Resettlement. Provided technical assistance to partner agencies on the utilization of the program’s health promotion toolkit and the health case management of refugees. Authored and disseminated press releases and announcements of scheduled trainings and updates of health brochures.

Designed and coordinated the construction of nine HIV/AIDS education murals throughout Kenya by Peace Corps volunteers.Managed twelve volunteers to assist with the completion of the program objectives. Trained volunteers in mural construction and research design. Responsible for creation and management project budget, including all resource development. Created a “how-to” guide for construction of murals and to educate students on HIV/AIDS prevention incorporating the activities from the Peace Corps’ Life Skills manual.

Assisted the LARMU country offices in creating indicators and tools to measure organizational performance using CARE’s Rights Based Approach (RBA).Assisted LARMU staff in preparing presentations and case studies for a regional conference.

Updated surveillance manuals for the focus countries involved in the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).Updated, and reorganized all documents and files relating to GAP’s surveillance department’s extranet site.Evaluated an Epi Info training (March, 2003) using qualitative and quantitative methods, and authored a report summarizing the findings.

Created and evaluated illustrated health communication materials (IHCM) to help caseworkers educate IRC clients about health and healthcare as part of a thesis project.Conducted public transportation orientation for 50 IRC clients. Assisted IRC caseworkers with obtaining public assistance, and identification for several IRC clients.

HIV/AIDS and Community Health Instructor, U.S. Peace Corps, Togo, West Africa, 05/02-07/03Aided community Red Cross HIV/AIDS educators in meeting planning and facilitation for HIV/AIDS prevention.Directed 10 training sessions to three middle schools for over 300 students on HIV/AIDS prevention.Assisted other counterparts in cross-cultural communication and project advertising for Global 2000 and the Carter Center Guinea Worm eradication program as part of week-long effort in association with the U.S. Peace Corps. Gender and Development Trainer, U.S. Peace Corps, Togo, West Africa, 04/02-04/03 Coordinated, designed, and directed two training sessions to discuss program development and role of gender in the development process. Created four new training programs based on volunteers’ individual occupations. Co-edited and contributed articles to “The Griot” - Peace Corps Togo’s quarterly voluntary newsletter. Agro-Forestry Extension Agent, U.S. Peace Corps Togo, West Africa, 09/01-07/03 Evaluated program effectiveness on local, regional, and national level.Implemented agro-forestry projects that were in harmony with the ecological and cultural constructs of the community. Recruited, trained, and supervised 8 village farmers in a variety of integrated agro-forestry techniques such as compost, natural pesticide production, live fencing, soy transformations, and fuel-efficient cook stove construction. Established and supervised upkeep of three tree nurseries and assisted planting over 200 trees.
