Studio 804, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation committed to the continued research and development of sustainable, affordable, and inventive building solutions. This is done by examining, on all levels, the standards of human comfort and the nature of urban spaces. Studio 804 educates students through the experience of all aspects embodied by design/build, a delivery model that is gaining widespread interest in the architectural profession. The organization is a comprehensive education opportunity for graduate students entering the final year of the Master of Architecture program at the University of Kansas School of Architecture, Design and Planning. For the last sixteen years, Studio 804 has pioneered new technologies and advanced construction techniques, including four LEED Platinum projects completed to date. Studio 804 produces one building per year, and it is through the support of organization and individuals committed to environmental stewardship that we are able to continue our service to the community at large.Current Project:The Forum at Marvin Hall will construct a new lecture hall and transform the existing second floor jury room into a student commons area. The new commons space will offer an area for students to congregate and create a foyer for the lecture hall. The addition will extend from the south elevation of the existing Marvin Hall and be accessed thru two existing windows that will be converted to accommodate the passage opening. Following the tradition of previous Studio 804 projects, the facility will incorporate both passive and active sustainable systems and technologies. The building is intended to achieve LEED Platinum certification.

As part of the design team I worked closely with the Senior Designer in all phases of design taking projects from schematic design, design development, and through for-construction drawings that were handed over to the shop in Seattle. Working closely with the clients, both in person and remotely, to achieve the made-to-order personalization and final design that was right for each space and client. Understanding the need for a systems-based approach to achieve a high level of quality while maintaining the flexibility to accomplish the right solution for each client.
