As an oil painter, I have developed an interest in the surreal which flows from the unconscious. My work has taken an inward turn portraying landscapes as mindscapes with abandoned man made structures reminiscent of Girogio de Chirico's oeuvre. In the past, I have explored the dialectical tension between the erotic and thanatotic poles of our lives which maps the human condition. Hope and a sense of the possibility of transcendence has now become a part of my exploration. I have been painting for over ten years learning from nature, the urban environment with guidance from the Art Students League, private lessons in Japanese brush painting and more recently instruction and critique from noted marine painter William P. Duffy who has encouraged me to find my own voice and get it out there for the public to see.
