I have been involved with Natural Resource management since 2010 here in San Francisco's Presidio National Park. Beginning in 2014 I was hired as the first official Presidio Trust Wildlife Ecologist and have since been developing the park's wildlife program, which consists of monitoring and managing not only the wildlife, but also relevant human dimensions. I am broadly interested in holistic ecological restoration, but particularly interested in reintroduction biology, novel ecosystems, genetic management, and the application of 21st century technology to conservation. I am always learning and refining new skills such as computer modelling (e.g. R, Bayesian approaches in population dynamics, and spatial temporal movement data analyses) to better inform the long-term management of the city's wildlife community. One of my primary responsibilities is managing human-coyote conflicts (perceived and real), which has led me to develop a comprehensive and robust coyote monitoring program. This program involves cutting-edge GPS collar tracking, health screens, and extensive public outreach. I am keen on collaborations with outside researchers, with the goal of not only enhancing Presidio wildlife conservation, but also expanding the science of urban ecology.
