I didn't have a choice but to get into hospitality industry when I was young!Let me tell you a story why I said that.I grew up in a traditional Chinese family, where all cousins of the same generation counted as brothers. We were poor, my father and his brothers promised their parents to help to pay for one of us to graduate from university. I was a year younger than my smart cousin, naturally he graduated first and all the money went toward his tuition fee.Accountancy and Hotel & Catering Management were the only 2 Diploma courses available at a college near home, I hated Accountancy as I can never balance Trial Balance. Hence I said I didn't have a choice but to choose hospitality.But you know what, I love hospitality! Well, I should say I grew to love hospitality!And, I will never say I didn't have a choice any more! The more I learn and live the hospitality life, I know we do have a choice! I always say, if you could change the situation you are in, change it, if you can't, change the way you feel about it!My grow mindset motivate me to continue to study and learn, I get involve with Taylor's University in Malaysia to be part of the learning culture, I love to coach and share my life experience. I love to be able to contribute to the future growth of the hospitality talents! I am taking my Masters degree in International Hospitality Management, and planning to continue with PhD. That's a career option when I am no longer has the energy to manage a hotel, to teach. Above all, making up the lost chance of attaining higher education to my smart cousin!Talk to me, drop me a line if you want to hear some funny stories happened in a hotel.
