Hello! I am an undergraduate senior majoring in Biomedical Engineering with a certificate in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Florida, with an expected graduation in 2025. My passion lies in cancer research, and I am planning to pursue a PhD in this field, with an ultimate career goal of working in a government/academic cancer laboratory. During my undergraduate journey, I have gained extensive research experience, notably as a member of the O'Dell Lab. Our research focuses on medical physics in the context of cancer, utilizing imaging modalities such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and echocardiography (Echo) to explore and research topics in cancer biology and the body's response to treatment. In particular, I have actively contributed to projects such as the Radiation Treatment Effects on Heart Function project and the Metastatic Tumor Early Detection project. Within these projects, I improved my skills in utilizing tools like the National Institutes of Health ImageJ program to perform image analyses on medical scans. For instance, I contoured volumes of the heart and other vital organs to calculate specific metrics such as the Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction and Global Longitudinal Strain in the Radiation Treatment Effects on Heart Function project. Additionally, I employed ImageJ to model tumors within the lungs, furthering our understanding of early metastatic tumor detection. I am eager to continue my academic and research journey, using my skills and passion to make meaningful contributions to cancer research and ultimately improve patient outcomes.
