The Children’s Room (TCR) is the largest independent non-profit in Massachusetts solely dedicated to supporting grieving children, teens, and families. Since 1993, the organization has provided free services to families from over 80 communities across Massachusetts through peer support groups and related services. The Children’s Room was founded on the belief that every child, teen, and family grieving a death deserves a safe, supportive, and understanding environment. Today’s TCR serves approximately 1,100 children, families, and professionals with an annual operating budget of $1.5MM and a staff of 13. As the Executive Director, I am responsible for overall strategic and operational leadership of the organization, including management of TCR staff, Board of Directors, programming, communications and marketing, financial management and development.Our organization is available to support children ages 3.5-18, and their families, who have experienced the death of a sibling, parent, or caregiver. Playworks is the leading national nonprofit leveraging the power of play to transform children's social and emotional health. We are respected for our evidence-informed services and strategic approach to scale. Now, we are looking beyond the schools that we serve to help 3.5 million students in 7,000 schools experience safe and healthy play every day. As both National Vice President of Field Operations and Regional Executive Director I drive strategy and sustainability over a multi-region operation including Massachusetts, Maine, Minnesota, New Hampshire and Rhode Island, working with regional staff to ensure that each region meets and exceeds its goals for revenue, program impact and team health. Additionally, I serve on the national leadership team with the CEO, CFO and COO to shape our strategy and tactics as a national organization to ensure that we are successful while delivering on our mission and improving our organization-wide culture.

The mission of Playworks is to improve the health and well-being of children by increasing opportunities for physical activity and safe, meaningful play. ​We do this by partnering with principals, teachers, parents, guardians and families to ensure children benefit socially, emotionally and physically from the power of play.As Executive Director of Playworks New England I oversee the entire operations that includes bringing safe, healthy play to 150 schools and 75,000 children during the 2020-21 school year. Build partnerships and lead our programming team in the delivery of direct service and capacity building programs across the region. Implement our development strategy in an effort to attain sustainability. Manage the efforts of the local Board of Directors. Facilitate the expansion and growth of Playworks in the local market in both programming and local presence and brand awareness. Moreover, my team and I navigated through the COVID pandemic by implementing risk management practices to stabilize operations for the long term during which we communicated with key stakeholders and innovated around new programs to meet evolving market conditions.

As Director of Partnerships and Development I was directly responsible for identifying and attracting diverse funding sources to support Playworks strategic growth, serving as spokesperson with media and funders, and creating annual development strategy.- Increased revenue by 93% over a three-year period ($517K to $840K to $1m).- Launched a major donor program and built a major donor community resulting in 200% increase of donors giving $5,000 or more to the organization.- Wrote and submitted 140 unique grant proposals with project/general operation budgets.- Cultivated partnerships with 50 corporations from 2011-2015 with a focus on employee engagement and corporate foundation impact (78% increase).- Created, organized, and project managed three large scale fundraisers annually.- Developed and managed annual communications strategy that included quarterly newsletters, donor stewardship communications,and annual reports.

- Managed, coached, and evaluated 8+ school-based staff each school year.- Organized and facilitated staff trainings.- Served as primary contact for school administrators developing mutually beneficial relationships.- Interviewed and hired new staff.

- Ran youth development programming for 600+ urban, at-risk students at low-income elementary school.- Developed curriculum and taught classes geared toward the social and emotional learning of all students.- Coached 50+ youth in their first sports team experience

- Oversaw all financial affairs of the corporation, including balancing of 2008-09 and 2009-10 budgets. - Direct player and team compliance to monitor eligibility in the USARL (semi-professional rugby league). - Developed corporation’s community outreach programs.- Supervised game day responsibilities at Boston 13s home games during the 2010 AMNRL season including game day filming and statistical analysis.- Member of the USARL national committee supporting and overseeing league responsibilities for eleven team semi-professional league (teams based from Jacksonville, FL to Boston, MA).

- Directed game day sponsorship and marketing elements at all Boston College Athletic events (58 total games during the 2007-2008 sports season).- Developed sponsorships contracts, implemented marketing efforts, and managed corporate special events for men’s and women’s ice hockey, men’s and women’s basketball, and men’s football.
