Book Author
Laughing Fire Press will publish my novel, "Developing Minds: An American Ghost Story," and my screenplay, "A Noble Truth," in 2015. Available September 14, 2015:"Developing Minds" follows a group of emotionally wounded recent college graduates who struggle against feelings of alienation and their addictions as they try to survive their first year of teaching at two dysfunctional public schools in Miami. A full synopsis can be found on my website: http://jonlapoma.com/works/books/developing-minds-american-ghost-story/"A Noble Truth" is a feature-length coming-of-age drama about two friends who take a road trip throughout the US and into Mexico to explore what truths unite people in a country slipping deeper into apathy and discord. It's soon evident, however, that truth is the last thing either man seeks. "A Noble Truth" is a mix between "Easy Rider" and "Good Will Hunting," and has won 12 awards/honors in the past year, including first place victories in the 2014 Awareness Film Festival and 2014 West Field Screenwriting Awards (The New York Award).
