Coming from a small town in West Virginia, I am honored to be a Brennan Scholar at the University of Notre Dame. As a junior Mechanical Engineering student with minors in Bioengineering and Innovation & Entrepreneurship, I enjoy exploring the intersection between engineering and the healthcare system. My fellowships and internships have taken me beyond West Virginia and Notre Dame, helping me develop a deeper understanding of the gaps in medical care worldwide.There are significant differences in the healthcare provided in rural and urban areas. On average, there is a 17-year gap between technological advancements and their implementation in medical treatment, with this disparity fluctuating dramatically across communities.
