Teignbridge is a global marine propeller sales, design, full manufacture (including non ferrous foundry) and after-sales service company. The company has its head office in UK with a substantial office in Dubai and a small office in USA, and employs approximately 100 people with a turnover of $16m.Teignbridge was a loss making operation when I took over, my responsibilities were to develop a plan and lead the organisation to a break even position initially, then secure investment to allow sustained profitability. Phase 1 of the plan called for a structural reorganisation with downsizing to reduce the cost base, improve sales and sales margin, improve factory efficiency, maintain health and safety focus and improve employee engagement. Phase 2 was to relocate and invest in the foundry operation moving from 2 factories to 1, further improve factory efficiency and improve working conditions throughout the operation. Key achievements for this position included:• Improved earnings result by over $1m in first 6 months, 2008 Group profitability $1.5m• Restructured senior management team• Secured Phase 2 investment, factories consolidated on time, on budget• Led factory efficiency improvement campaign from mid/low 50’s to high 70’s, through waste/rework emphasis, bonus scheme and process improvement • Negotiated 3 years of successful union agreements, resulting in below budget increases• Increased sales revenue by CAGR of 14.5%• Improved all employee key indicators, absenteeism reduced from 4% to under 2%, staff turnover reduced, moral improved through communication and reporting program• Reduced number of accidents through health and safety emphasis• After initial downsizing, staff numbers gradually increased as revenue grew• Deeply involved in negotiations with potential acquirers both financial and strategic, and sourced eventual successful bidder
