After spending most of my career in some form of consultancy, developing products for many different projects and clients, I wanted to focus: I determined I wanted to run one large website rather than many smaller ones, for one organization I wholeheartedly respect rather than several. At the same time, public media broadcasters needed more digital talent.

In 2019 NPR launched the Incubation Lab, "a rotating team dedicated to developing and testing solutions to some of the network's most urgent strategic and practical challenges." The inaugural Lab was dedicated to leveraging NPR's digital scale to drive value to the NPR Member stations.The cross-functional team was comprised of five NPR employees and one.

I joined this start-up to develop a proprietary CMS product (it was 2002, after all) and stayed on as it pivoted to being a web/CMS/CRM consultancy for local small businesses and non-profits.
