Iteratively developing and testing a solid fuel scramjet combustion engine utilizing additively manufactured fuel grains.

Directed the development of a cold gas propulsion system for a lander vehicle, focusing on mechanical design and analysis. Engineered to facilitate descent deceleration in planetary landing scenarios with limited atmosphere, ensuring the safe retrieval of four mock astronauts. Implemented a custom fluid system alongside a 3D printed convergent-divergent nozzle within the propulsion setup. The system is governed by a feedback mechanism, utilizing pressurized carbon dioxide from a commercial tank to generate thrust force opposing gravity.

Developing a student researched and design solid propulsion system. This project is intended to give new students a robust foundation in solid propulsion concepts with topics surrounding Nozzle design, grain configuration and composition, and motor casing design and analysis. Throughout this project students will be using Star CCM CFD and CREO CAD software to simulate and model their motors. At the completion of this project, it is expected that the team will static fire by May.

Worked on team that was responsible for design, analysis, and manufacturing of the combustion systems, including the fuel and oxidizer combinations, injectors and nozzle design, and combustion chamber. Focused on manufacturing of injector, nozzle, motor housing, and combustion chamber. Also helped research additives for solid fuel grain to increase regression rate and performance.

As recovery lead I'm responsible with ensuring the rocket is recovered In a reliable and effective manner. I will be utilizing Mathcad software to calculate necessary black powder mass for separation, parachute size, and snatch force. I am also using finite element analysis to verify that my mechanical design can withstand the aerodynamic and load forces acting on the recovery bay.

As systems lead for the NASA student launch project I am tasked with ensuring that all sub systems are being as effective and efficient as possible. I am also responsible maintaining organization within the project and establishing consistent communication between each sub system so that design proceeds smoothly.

The FAR 51025 competition is an intercollegiate, amateur, high-powered rocketry competition that takes place in Mojave, California. Through Knights Experimental Rocketry, UCF's very own high-powered rocketry club, I led and assisted in the design, manufacturing, and integration of our teams payload that would later be launched in our own student researched and designed rocket. I had to organize and effectively lead a group of 10 members to design a payload that would meet various goal requirements. Throughout my time as the FAR 51025 Team 2 Lead I participated in PCB architectural design with Arduino and Raspberry Pi communication protocols such as I2C and SPI. I also led the mechanical design for our payload which was heavily constrained by the dimensions of the air-frame being provided. We used software like Solidworks and Inventor to create real time assemblies from which we modeled our payload. CAD was also used to 3D print several parts necessary for our payload. In the manufacturing phase I insured that everyone practiced machine safety as well as gain experience in using commercial equipment.
