Let me tell you a little about myself. I’m proud of my strengths and embrace my weaknesses since they have helped me adapt to change whenever needed throughout my work life. I started my software career with intention. I went to college for Computer Science, and during my time at school, I had jobs that weren’t tech-related but still taught me a lot. These experiences helped me develop one of my biggest strengths: resilience. I don’t give up easily, no matter the challenge. I don’t surrender, and this alone has taken me far in my career. Combined with my problem-solving skills, this resilience has enabled me to succeed in most tasks thrown my way..One of my biggest strengths is resourcefulness. Here’s a little story: Near the end of my last college year, a major global event happened around 2020. I’m sure everyone knows which one. Anyway, I was about to start looking for an internship, a requirement for graduation. As I searched for an internship, I realized that there were very few internships in cybersecurity (my major) because everyone was sent home and companies were adapting to a new way of working. Employers weren’t ready for such a change (to be fair, who was?), so finding an internship was extremely challenging.So there I was, needing an internship to graduate, but unable to find one in my field. I had to adapt, so I started applying for remote internships, which were mostly in web development. I explained the situation to my school, and they approved an internship in that field. But there was a problem: I didn’t know much about web development—just the basics. I kept applying and eventually got an interview. I knew that I needed to learn a lot of skills to be successful as a web dev intern. That’s when my resourcefulness kicked in. I spent all my free time learning about the technologies they used so I could perform my job correctly. It was a challenging time, but I did it, and I’m still grateful to the manager for the opportunity that was given to me.That experience taught me that I actually enjoyed web development more than I did cybersecurity. I subsequently enrolled in a Full Stack Web Development Academy to solidify my skills, and now, here I am.
