About Jonathan Swinton
A long time ago I did a maths PhD in dynamical systems in the days when it was called 'chaos theory'.Then I became a modeller, working on infectious disease epidemiology and systems biology in academia and the pharmaceutical industry. As a hobby I once wrote about Alan Turing's mathematical biology, which turned into a biography of Turing embedded in a social history of post war Manchester, which turned into an intellectual and emotional biography of the extraordinary 20C psychologist Molly Harrower, and is currently flowering into a full blown addiction to archive research. But I've just written a book on the mathematics of why plants have Fibonacci numbers. I love giving talks on all this stuff from pub chats to lecture courses - just ask.jonathan@swintons.net
