Passionate about computers and programming from a young age, I initially set my sights on becoming a software engineer. Throughout high school, I immersed myself in various coding projects, from managing my school's website to tackling challenges with Visual Basic 6.0 and even developing mods for Quake II. However, just before graduating, I found myself captivated by the aviation industry. For the past two decades, I dedicated myself to aviation, progressing from a student pilot to obtaining the highest certification granted by the FAA. I gained extensive experience in flying both helicopters and airplanes, and I am proud to hold an instructor certification for helicopters as well.Despite my successful career in aviation, my passion for coding remained steadfast. I consistently pursued coding as a hobby, exploring diverse areas such as 3D printers, firmware development, IoT devices, and website design. However, I yearned for an opportunity to fully immerse myself in the software engineering field.I'm excited to say, I took the leap and transitioned into a career as a software engineer. Working in this capacity, I have honed my skills and gained practical experience in developing software solutions, collaborating with teams, and applying problem-solving techniques. My aviation background brings a unique perspective to my work, fostering a meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a methodical approach to problem-solving.Now, armed with both aviation expertise and software engineering proficiency, I am excited to contribute my diverse background to a dynamic and innovative team. I am eager to leverage my skill set to make a meaningful impact, while continuously growing and expanding my knowledge in the field of software engineering.Want to talk about JavaScript, Ruby on Rails or Helicopters?Feel free to connect or email me jon@jonrussell.xyz
