In my role at Cement Australia, I am responsible for the testing of many aspects of the construction materials field. My Tasks often included physical tests, such as porosity, direct and indirect tensile strength, and chemical testing to verify the quality and makeup of the cementious material we provide. Most of this work performed by us at Cement Australia relates to quality assurance, as we have a huge desire to ensure the material we provide to the customer can withstand the rigours of their needs.This role has many challenging and rewarding aspects, as it require a physical presence to perform the more physical tasks, such as mixing the larger batches of material, or preparation and conditioning of the aggregrate to the standard that we require, to the more cerebral tasks, analysing patterns of data and finding cause for inconsistency that we can then further address.

Working with Troy Bird Contracting was a great way to clear my head and get stuck into a mindset of self-improvement. This role involved the delivery of freight that was urgently required to some of the remotest locations in Queensland. This role wasn't just limited to Queensland however and often had me travelling interstate to deliver parts to the Northern Territory, New South Wales and even South Australia. The challenge this role mainly presented was one of flexibility, requiring me to be ready to leave for any location in Australia within half an hour of a call being made.
