Lead design engineer for a highly rated automotive aftermarket manufacturer. Position requires reverse-engineering the OEM tank as a 3D model, then working with the digital scan of the vehicle to optimize available space for fuel capacity. Best engineering practices required for industry standards, national regulations, rotomolding, plastic tolerances, and sheet metal design. Oversees part from initial design to market release, including initial calculations, design, analysis, prototype testing, and first article inspections. Provides QC checks on current products as requested by warehouse and sales departments. Responsibility for engineering department and partial responsibility for technical services department. Expected to work closely with and maintain healthy relationships with manufacturers, vendors, and customers.
