Jonathon has a general practice out of the Ames and Des Moines offices that includes, but is not limited to, residential and commercial real estate transactions, landlord/tenant matters, construction, business and non-profit formation and governance, zoning and development law, estate planning, and estate probate.Jonathon has extensive experience including real estate title examinations and closings, commercial loan document review and preparation, commercial and residential construction including general and sub-contractors, property owners, and developers, landlord/tenant law, and business formation. He also has experience in complex contract drafting, review, and negotiation, and municipal law, including representing residential and commercial clients on development and zoning issues.Prior to joining Dentons Davis Brown, Jonathon served as the Assistant City Attorney for the city of Winterset, Iowa, and other municipal clients. Jonathon’s experience includes one year at a general practice law firm in Winterset. He also completed internships with the Iowa Supreme Court, Brick Gentry P.C., Ahlers & Cooney, P.C., Iowa Legal Aid, and Ames City Attorney. Jonathon also served as research assistant with Professor Jerry Anderson at Drake Law School, assisting him with research for a property law textbook.Jonathon is actively involved in the Story County Bar Association and FUEL Story County. Jonathon has previously been involved for a number of years with Iowa Legal Aid and Boys and Girls Club of America. He also volunteered with the Louisiana Pro Bono Project assisting victims of Hurricane Katrina with property law issues. Jonathon has also served on the Board of Trustees and as Chapter Advisor of Alpha Tau Omega, Gamma Upsilon chapter at Iowa State University.Jonathon and his wife, Jenna, and two sons, Franklin and George, live in Ames, Iowa. He enjoys spending time with his family, especially his “Dadurday” adventures, playing board games, and golfing.
