The role is focused on product development, taking concepts and ideas from computer models, prototyping and testing them. I also do a lot of problem solving for customers requiring novel solutions to problems often within very short timescales sometimes only a few weeks. I am Technical Lead on a number of single and multi year projects and provide technical input to various others as required. As technical lead i have to plan the work and manage team members to ensure that it is competed on time, to a high standard and to cost. I also run two laboratories one specialising in polyurethane manufacture the other is a machine shop. A large part of this is ensuring all of the relevant risk and COSHH assessments are in place before work is carried out and training the users about the equipment and processes to allow the safe and efficient production of materials and test pieces.In this role I have a lot of customer contact from initial requirement meetings to consulting on work being carried out on customer sites to running training courses to teach customers about our products and how they can best be utilised.
