After many years working long hours I decided to move from being an employee to working for myself so that I could take an active role in my parenting duties. Over the years I have assisted many new businesses who weren’t able to support an in house IT department with their IT needs from a remote perspective assisting with every range of enquiry, remote installations, analysis and development predominantly in web design. I have provided IT assistance throughout many different types of fields to include telecoms, financial planning and charities and helped to run key projects including a complex web based bill reporting system and have provided ongoing support and management.I was also head hunted by a newly started telecoms company who had heard about the success of Arrow and Townley and wanted to quickly grow their business, here I assisted them with starting up the business, recommendations for IT infrastructure and a way to run a customer services team on a shoe string budget. This business has seen phenomenal growth and I still provide monthly billing to them, crunching the numbers where possible to enable them better profit margins, I have also travelled the country installing interactive systems in showrooms and show homes for a leading German Kitchen Manufacturer – I also helped design the software used.

Working within the Bureau Billing Department, I would carry out all billing, tariff management and administration to remote clients, this is a varied role supporting many differing companies but all using the aBillity platform. This role gave me an insight to how different companies work and to also analyze different billing practices to to see what processes suit what company.

At Arrow I was initially employed on an advisory role to analyze all aspects of this infantile business. I monitored processes of staff, IT infrastructure and billing profitability. I provided my reports and recommendations on how this new business could attain rapid growth and utilize their staff more efficiently and recommendations for a complete IT infrastructure within the constraints of their budget. The company took complete confidence in my report and decided to appoint me to follow my recommendations and work within the company as their head of IT and billing.In addition to normal expectancies within the role of head of IT I helped to grow the business resulting in expanding the IT department from being just me to having my own team of people. Providing some training and choosing people who specialized in various fields to give a wide range of specialized knowledge within the company. With my team I project managed the development and implementation of various automated reporting packages, a bespoke intranet system and a self-installation software to enable synchronicity between workstations.

My job responsibilities at Townley were very varied. I covered a wide range of roles covering IT, Billing, Technical Sales Support and Customer Services. I had to oversee the company’s mobile, fixed line, in vehicle installations and the management of the services departments. In my first year I lead the redesign of the in-house billing and customer care system. The main objective of the role was to develop systems and operations to support a rapid growth of the business

I worked in a consultancy role providing onsite support and management to various company clients. It was my responsibility to give onsite support and advice in relation to backup/disaster recovery plans and provide internet security. Installing and configuring firewalls, servers and backing up software/hardware on client’s premises.One of my main clients I worked closely with was BT Easicom based in Manchester, UK. Here I was responsible for the management and support of the old BT Easicom systems consisting of some 20 servers, I provided on call support for functional errors via a pager system. It was a groundbreaking experience working alongside Easicom as they provided the first implementation of sms to and from Fixed lines.
