• Responsible for optimizing Direct Energy Business Canada's renewal portfolios for electricity and natural gas customers through process re-engineering and improved strategies in order to deliver $7M of gross margin to the company.• Created an innovative natural gas product in Ontario which allows customers to gain exposure to market swings while being protected with a maximum price.• Provided assistance in the creation of non-standard products and transactions.• Provided ad-hoc energy consultative services for large commercial and industrial electricity and natural gas clients.

I am a member of the class of 2012 of the Leadership Development Program at Direct Energy. Rotation 1: Governmental & Regulatory Affairs, Toronto, ON January 2011-July 2011• Launched a company-wide process to track changes in utility tariffs, renewable portfolio standards and state legislation to optimize Direct Energy’s cost of goods sold in U.S electricity markets.• Modeled and analyzed Direct Energy's Solar Renewable Energy Credit obligations in the North Eastern United States for a book impact of approximately $800,000.Rotation 2: Product Development - Direct Energy Business, Pittsburgh, PA - July 2011-September 2011• Authored a product specification and full business case for a free online tool that would allow Direct Energy Business customers to view their historical energy usage and expenditure in order to drive demand side management activities.Rotation 3: Non-Commodity Product Strategy - Direct Energy Business, Pittsburgh, PA - September 2011-March 2012• Lead analyst in early stage strategy development of various ‘non-commodity’ products (e.g: solar, demand response, fuel cells, etc.). Deliverables included: market research, competitive analysis and technology studies for each product opportunity as well as presentations and reports to the leadership team.• Assisted in the development of the business case for the growth Direct Energy’s demand response business as well as research into M&A prospects.Rotation 4: 360Direct Analyst – Direct Energy Business, Pittsburgh, PA – March 2012-October 2012• Managed Direct Energy Business’ demand response program in Ontario (DR3) and assisted in the divestiture of the portfolio by compiling financial models and leading the operational handoff to the acquirer.•Compiled a 4 year financial plan and forecast for Direct Energy Business Canada.•Technical sales support for 360Direct products in Canada•Provide ah-hoc consultative support for clients’ energy management initiatives throughout North America.

Thesis Topic: Modeling Pumped Storage Generation Potential in Ontario beyond 2015.Utilized linear programming models to model the amount (in MW) of pumped storage generation that could be implemented in Ontario in 2015, 2020 and 2025 based on the goal of cost minimization.

As part of the Portfolio Management Board, I assisted in providing strategic recommendations and reporting on Nortel's product portfolios.I also migrated the Board's database into Microsoft Access and automated the reporting process using Access, VBA and Excel. This resulted in a 10x reduction in time in creating the report.
