During 1991 & 1992 the latter became my priorityas we developed the world's first monolithic RF power amplifier for cell phones. This involved managing resources in Dallas and the UK. In 1992 I took additional responsibility for the custom linear resources in Bedford (marketing, design & product engineering) and transitioned them into a successful business unit focused on Telecom mixed signal systems products. A key success was the analogue cellular baseband chip for Technophone which became Nokia's first high volume consumption of TI silicon in mobile phones. P&L ownership grew to a $50M business by 1994 at which point TI closed down the TI UK Bedford site and relocated the business to Germany
