How does your organisation make decisions? It's a great question. But whatever answer you give me, it is not likely to be correct. You see, there is "how we think we make decisions". That answer will be rational, structured, hierarchical and aimed at "maximising utility".And then there is "how we actually make decisions." That is going to require several rooms full of whiteboards and a diagram that would frighten even the hardiest spider. But I am not here to grill you on your decision-making process.I actually want to ask you how you ensure that when you make decisions, you aren't inadvertently blowing organisational value out the window.Because nothing is more frustrating than watching a group of highly intelligent people roll out an exciting new strategic direction, or even make what seems to be a common-sense decision about structural changes, and in the process, diminish the long-term value of their business. We are talking about people here: the acquisition, retention and especially the development of great people. Their contribution, know-how, commitment to the organisation, their trust in you. Their enthusiasm and discretionary effort - or the lack thereof.Just because it didn't make it onto all those whiteboards, doesn't mean people don't matter more than all the things you did consider. You employ lots of assets of many kinds in your business or other organisation. But your ability to sustain the creation of business value comes down to people. At best you have been looking at what people have achieved in the past (or at least what they have claimed credit for). The thing that matters is the value they can bring to the organisation in the future. We help clients understand the value of their people, how to understand them, get them working together to deliver the organisational mission, how to develop them into leaders, and how to leverage those people for sustainable business growth and success. And that is data that will better inform your every decision.Perhaps we should talk!

Consultant To Leaders, GloballyElaura Asia (Sg), Elaura (Uk) And Kokkoi (Nz)Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand -
Consultant To Leaders, GloballyElaura Asia (Sg), Elaura (Uk) And Kokkoi (Nz) Jan 2000 - PresentGlobalLeaders in business, government and non-profit organisations have far more in common than they realise. They have a mission which involves solving a specific class of problem for one or more groups of people; and they have people around them, to help them deliver that mission. Whether the problem is giving people the tyres they need, or the mobile payments options they want, or the public services they are paying their rates for, or providing the food they can't afford, the organisation is solving that problem for a group of people. So as a leader, your questions are:* 1. Have I got the right people to deliver the mission?* 2. Do I, and the other leaders I serve with, understand ourselves and the role of leader, well enough to lead those people?* 3. Have we built an organisation which not only delivers the mission, but also acts as a reliable, effective pipeline for growing and developing NEW leaders?Questions 1 and 2 get you into the ballpark. Question 3 tells us if you can succeed. As we say, all of this depends upon your ability to make sense of people. Without that, you will either just keep pushing harder and harder for ever smaller returns; or you will try more and more new things... for the same result. How do you make sense of people? It starts with self-awareness (meaning you becoming self-aware). But self-awareness by itself gets you nowhere. You need activated self-awareness.That is, self-awareness that has a practical and accurate framework around it that not only 'locates' you, and who you are, objectively; but which also gives you the insight you need on how to leverage that self-awareness and the framework in order to drive measurable results. And that is when you can understand who you need, how to lead them, and how to turn them into the leaders for the next wave.Perhaps we should talk. -

Birkman Method® Certification changes all of that, by providing the means to gain fine-grained, stable assessment of each individual employee, and insightful aggregated data on teams, functions, markets and the organisation as a whole.Since 2011, we have been providing Birkman Certification in English outside of the US, for participants from as far afield as Ireland and Japan, Australia and China. -

Helping Teens And Young Adults Prepare For Life And MarketplaceHoozyu Jun 2009 - Present"What are you going to be when you grow up?" is a question that begins being asked around Day 0 of life. And of course, a newborn child has no way of decoding the question, let alone coming up with a credible answer.Unfortunately, teens and young adults mostly lack the self-awareness, or any meaningful framework, within which they could understand or answer the question. But the question keeps coming, and it is no longer framed in so friendly a manner."Which subjects are you doing next year? I need your answer today, or we will just have to assign you to a stream..." "How are you going to get a job when you can't handle your Maths problems?""You don't seem to know what you want to do, but you are good at x, have you considered teaching?" (Or accountancy or law or...)It is the wrong question. It is pretty hard to plan your career on a 10-20 year time horizon, when you don't yet understand who you are, today.hoozyu is designed to help teens and young adults understand who they are, and then develop their own menus of career options which are going to be satisfying, engaging and which offer the likelihood of personal success.hoozyu is the missing tool for parents, guardians, youth workers and educators. Careers advice, to a teenager, can be like them hearing 100 different radio stations all playing simultaneously; hoozyu helps your young person cut through the clutter and chatter and begin to find answers for themselves. For professionals who already help young people, this is the tool that both broadens the canvas and brings you hard edged, objective data with which to outline the possibilities. And for Birkman Certified Professionals, who may have struggled to bring their enterprise-class expertise to the assistance of teenagers, hoozyu is the data you know and love, pared back to what matters for these clients and framed in a super-friendly and accessible way.DM me for more, or visit hoozyu -
