Project - Wrap Platform for Standard LifeFNZ Wrap is a web-based, industry-leading wealth management platform administering *18 billion assets for some of the world's largest financial institutions. The FNZ Wrap platform consists of both front office (transfers, trading, performance reporting, etc) and back office (corporate actions, settlement, reconciliation, etc) functionalities.I was heavily involved in a joint project between Standard Life and FNZ to upgrade an extremely large legacy system. This involved converting a large portion of the legacy VB.Net code (of over 300,000 lines of code) and refactoring it into a smaller more efficient c# code base. We approached this challenge with the careful and extensive use of unit and integration testing (the entire team created over 16,000 tests). Project - Wrap Platform Development for AXAI was part of a large project to create a new wrap platform that consolidated AXA's pension proposition. During this time I wrote a sizable part of an industry leading personal pension system, interpreting some very complex (sometimes conflicting) government pension changes.Duties & Responsibilities:Weekly teleconferencing with the design and refactoring team to discuss design issuesResponsible for implementing complex on the fly financial calculations for the web-based front end. Projects: Development of Online Share Trading System for National Bank of NZ (NBNZ), Trading system changes to work with new custodian (UBS)During this time I wrote some very complex, high profile code (involving processing orders from placement through to settlement) that linked NBNZ/FNZ's trading systems to UBS's straight through share trading system. This code required a lot of diligence/testing across a large number of trading scenarios.I also wrote an incredibly efficient web-based cash/stock reconciliation system, which has been used extensively by the company and ported over to most of the company's international branches.Duties & Responsibilities:Gathering requirements directly from client contactsTeleconferencing with system experts discussing how trades will flow through/between each system.2nd level production supportMentoring junior developers. Achievements: Prevented the company a few times from serious contractual breach. Relocated to the UK headquarters as a star performer.
