Futsoul is a community organisation keen to bring the social benefits of futsal to the city of Bristol - transforming peoples mental and physical health along the way. Passionate about uniting different groups of people together through sport we want to help build stronger, more cohesive communities. In a city where 91 languages are spoken there are still many social, cultural and economic walls that stop people flourishing. We have a three-stranded approach: - Working with children in schools to develop their emotional and social skills through futsal; - Creating fun and safe spaces within communities for young people to gather; - Facilitating matches and tournaments that bring people from different walks of life together.We’re just starting out on our journey as a community organisation, working with the police, local authorities, schools and voluntary organisations to build safer communities. Futsal is a fun and social version of 5-a-side football, played without walls - this opens up the space in the court and requires teams to play as one, instead of as individuals. It increases awareness of how our choices impact those around us, teaching different personality types how to bring their skillsets together. The game is highly regarded by the likes of Ronaldo, Messi and England manager Gareth Southgate. Over recent decades it has increasingly formed a key part of communities in South America, East Asia, and many parts of Southern and Eastern Europe.

Developing Young Adult Community around Arts, Sport/Fitness and Social Transformation attached to St Johns Hoxton. Overseeing evening gatherings on Sundays, hosting monthly live music nights - Sanctuary Gig Nights - and developing small-sided football project with youth and young adults in Hoxton. This project saw significant growth (200-300%) over a 2 year period, bringing to fruition all of the aims set out in the original job description, as well as beginning two additional start-up projects, surrounding football and live music, and facilitating a third, that have continued successfully to this day.

Advocates for futsal as a catalyst for transformation in the culture and style of football played in the UK. Developing taster classes for youth, student and young adults in central London and NE London. Futsal is an indoor version of 5-a side football, played with a slightly heavier ball. Played on a hard indoor surafce, with hockey-sized goals, futsal holds numerous advantages for developing young footballers: Players touch the ball up to five times more than in 11-a-side football, have less time on the ball and learn to cope in tight spaces, therefore rapidly improving spatial awareness and decision-making skills. Mentoring youth and students aged 12 - 21. Planning and running youth events. Giving talks for young people. Running smaller based discussion groups. Creating and adapting culturally relevant youth resources.

Re-engaging and rebranding volunteering volunteering for 16-25 year olds. Finding creative and fun ways for young people to volunteer and then finding young people eager to fill volunteer placements. Helping young people to access volunteering as a means of finding and practising new skills that would be beneficial for future employment and general life!
