About Jonathan Anderson

I am currently working in corporate development at Transportation Equipment Network (TEN), which is owned by I Squared Capital. I mainly focus on Acquisitions, Integration, and Strategy. Before that, I was with The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company (NYSE: SMG) where I focused on M&A, Integration, and Strategy within each of the company’s strategic business units (ScottsMiracle-Gro, Hawthorne Gardening Co, 1868 Ventures, and joint ventures) I began my career as an investment banker at Copper Run, a middle market M&A advisory firm. During my time there, I assisted in buy-side and sell-side advisory services to privately-owned companies, private equity firms, family offices, and publicly-traded companies. Outside of work, I am interested in philanthropy mainly concerning economic empowerment, poverty alleviation, and conservation efforts for marine life, forests, and game lands. My main academic interests involve behavioral economics, development economics, and the history of thought within philosophy, politics, and economics.

Myself and my three other team members analyzed and presented a strategic opinion and alternatives to a Board of Directors. Our advice was based on three strategic options: Selling off the closely held Architecture & Design firm to a PE firm, purchasing a niche environmental engineering & design firm, or horizontal integration via the acquisition of a larger A&D competitor. After addressing the firm's management goals and objectives for the next five years, my team and I valued each of the respective opportunities’ TEV as well as the combined TEV for the two M&A deals. The aproximate TEV valuation ranges were presented in football field charts broken down by DCF, Precedent Transactions, and Comparable Companies analysis having accounted for respective financial statement projections and synergies. We constructed a detailed pitchbook and appendix to be distributed to the BoD during a brief presentation where we discussed our qualitative and quantitative findings.
