Profile bio

About Jon Sands

I'm an education professional with over a decade of instructional and program stewardship experience. After graduating from Slippery Rocky University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education, I began my career in the classroom teaching history and civic courses at public and charter schools in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Though the subject matter differed from lesson to lesson the core messages always remained the same;- Every individual’s voice matters. - Practice citizenship at all levels (local, national, global). - Find your passion, then make a difference. Following a family relocation to the New York metro area I decided to take those core messages to heart personally. This led to my career shift from the classroom to the non-profit sector where I have since worked to advance personally resonant social causes including; - Equipping educators with the resources necessary to advance their educational objectives. - Advocating for increased and improved financial literacy education in the United States. - Empowering LGBTQ+ youth to discover their voices and become leaders of change. - Partnering with school communities to develop safer and more inclusive learning environments.Known for my outgoing personality and interminable energy you'll rarely see me sitting still. When not putting that liveliness toward causes like those listed above, I can be found taking part in one of my many hobbies such as running, fitness training, paddle boarding, reading historical non-fiction, backpacking, singing karaoke, playing drums, riding motorcycles, and keeping up on To-Do projects around the house.

Listed skills include Program Management, Youth Development, Volunteer Management, Project Management, and 50 others.
